New York Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association to Host 2008 NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic on July 28, 2008 at the Essex County Country Club

The New York Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association will host its 2008 New York NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic on Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Essex County Country Club in West Orange, New Jersey.

The annual event will bring retired NFL players together with local community and business members to raise funds for charity and compete to play in the NFL Alumni Super Bowl of Golf Championship in 2009. Confirmed athlete golfers include former NY Jets Ray Lucas and Marcus Gastineau, former NY Giants Ottis Anderson, Bart Oates, Karl Nelson, Stephen Baker, and many other NFL greats and their celebrity friends.

The event is a scramble format using the NFL Alumni handicap system. Each foursome will be paired with a celebrity captain. The winning five-some will win a trip to compete against teams from more than 30 NFL alumni chapters from across the county in the NFL Alumni Super Bowl of Golf Championship held in Florida in 2009.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete in a “hole-in-one” contest sponsored by Harley Davidson as well as other contests including a putting challenge, million dollar shoot-out, and other on-course contests such as “Best Dressed Golfer,” and “Long-Driver.”

Opportunities are available for pre- and post-event sponsors, including joining as a foursome, contest hole sponsors and gift bag, auction, contests, and raffle prize donations. Proceeds from the event benefit the NFL Alumni’s primary mission Caring for Kids(TM), which supports various children’s charities in the chapter’s service region.
